What this site is, what you can do with what's published here, and what we promise about it. The licence is permissive, the disclaimer is honest, the response time on corrections is fast.
The Clever Edit is an independent biweekly publication covering women, work, and the AI economy. The site, the newsletter, and the Data Room are operated as a sole proprietorship by the publication's founder and editor-in-chief.
By visiting the site, subscribing to the newsletter, or downloading from the Data Room, you agree to the terms below. If you don't, please don't.
Every claim in a published feature is supported by a citation. Every dataset we publish is sourced, identified, and dated. Where two sources disagree, we report the more conservative figure and footnote the difference.
Corrections. If you spot an error, write to corrections@cleveredit.co. Material corrections are acknowledged within one business day, fixed, and noted at the bottom of the affected page with a dated changelog. Cosmetic edits are made silently.
We do not accept paid placements, sponsored sections, or affiliate links. We do not run guest contributions that we have not commissioned. Every byline is a person we have edited.
Editorial content — articles, essays, analysis, charts, figures, and visualizations — is licensed for non-commercial reuse under Creative Commons:

Embedding a chart in a newsroom story, an academic paper, or a policy brief — fine, with credit. Republishing a feature in full on a competing site, or training a commercial model on our work — not without a separate licence.
Datasets and downloadable data files published in the Data Room are licensed separately under CC BY 4.0 — free for any use, including commercial, with attribution (see § The Data Room below).
Everything else is all rights reserved. The site's design, layout, user interface, visual system, source code, and interactive applications, together with The Clever Edit name, logo, wordmark, and trade dress, are not covered by the licences above. They remain the exclusive property of The Clever Edit and may not be copied, reproduced, scraped, or reused without our written permission.
Datasets published in the Data Room carry their own licence statement on each dataset page. Where we have hand-coded a dataset from public sources, the analysis layer is published under CC BY 4.0: free for any use, including commercial, with attribution.
Where a dataset incorporates third-party material under licence (for example, Flex Index), we credit and link to the upstream provider and apply that provider's terms to the underlying records. Our analysis layer remains separately licensed.
Each Data Room dataset includes a citation block. Please use it.
The Clever Edit publishes analysis, not advice. Findings are reported in good faith based on sources available at the time of writing. We do not warrant that any figure is free of error, and we are not liable for decisions made on the basis of the publication's content.
Forecasts and projections are clearly marked. Where we cite ranges of estimates, we do not assert that the midpoint is the right answer. Where we cite a single point estimate, we note the underlying confidence interval.
None of the material on this site constitutes legal, financial, medical, or career advice.
We link to original sources, primary documents, and supporting research. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content. If a third-party link is dead, write to corrections@cleveredit.co and we'll re-source it.
These terms are versioned. Material changes are announced in the next newsletter and noted at the top of this page. Cosmetic edits are made silently. Continued use of the site after a material change constitutes acceptance.
